Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks, or simply Alexie Brooks, is a Filipino-American athlete and model who was crowned Miss Iloilo 2024 on January 13, 2024. She is scheduled to represent Iloilo City in the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant. She is also a Southeast Asian Games heptathlon competitor and a member of the Philippine national athletics squad.

Alexie Mae Brooks was born in 2001 in Leon, Iloilo Province, Philippines. She is the daughter of an American and a Filipina. She grew raised in a close-knit household with her grandmother, Lola Basing, who served as her inspiration and adviser. She attended Leon Central School and Leon National High School, where she excelled in both academics and athletics. She was an honor student who also competed on the varsity level in volleyball, basketball, and track and field.

She relocated to Manila to complete her collegiate career at National University (NU), where she is a scholar-athlete majoring in business administration. She is also a member of the NU athletics team, where she competes in the heptathlon, a track and field event with seven disciplines: 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200-meter dash, long jump, javelin throw, and 800-metre run. She has represented NU in a number of local and national tournaments, earning medals and accolades.

She is also a part of the Philippine national athletics squad, having competed at the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam. She finished fifth in the heptathlon, recording a personal best score of 4,589 points. Alexie Brooks began her pageant career in 2023, when she competed in Miss Iloilo 2024, a beauty contest designed to highlight Ilonggas’ beauty, intelligence, and culture. She was one of 15 finalists who completed two months of intensive training and activities in preparation for the big coronation on January 13, 2024.

She astonished the judges and the audience with her grace, charisma, and confidence throughout the competition. She earned honors for Best Swimsuit, Best Designers’ Fashion Show, Best Cultural Costume, and other corporate distinctions. She also gave a compelling response to the final question, emphasizing her support for empowering women and increasing their rights and opportunities. She said:

“I want women to move forward. Abanse babae! This is something that comes from my heart. I want to empower women. I want to educate and advocate for women from the past and right now. Women could be so much more. We are capable of so much more. Abanse babae.”

She was crowned Miss Iloilo 2024 by her predecessor, Rabiya Mateo, who also won Miss Universe Philippines 2020 and finished in the Top 21 at Miss Universe. She was named Miss SM municipal Iloilo, as the company is a major sponsor of the municipal government’s annual Dinagyang Festival, a religious and cultural celebration honoring the Santo Niño.

She dedicated her victory to her cherished grandmother, Lola Basing, who died in 2022. She said:

He saw in her a “gem” of Iloilo athletics. She later transferred to Iloilo National High School to resume her athletic career, where she set a regional high jump record and became the Palarong Pambansa’s long jump “queen”.
