Rizvi was born on September 11, 1938, in the small village of Kalanpur in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, British India.
He graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1968. After that, he traveled to the United Kingdom to pursue his education.
When he returned to Pakistan, he accomplished something genuinely extraordinary. Dr. Rizvi returned with an entire container full of medical equipment, rather than a car, as most people do.
While staying in the UK, Rizvi was inspired by the National Health Service and intended to bring it to Pakistan. In 1970, he opened an eight-bed urology ward at the Civil Hospital in Karachi.
Since then, the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has expanded to become Pakistan’s leading and largest urology and transplantation institute. They have branches, or satellite centers, located around the country.
Rizvi is also the President of the Transplant Society of Pakistan. In 2003, he and his team at SIUT made history by completing Pakistan’s first successful liver transplant on a newborn.
